Push The button, New Zealand's biggest ever text competition, finished up on November 13th off the coast of Wellington. Contestants from all over New Zealand played out a text version of 'battleships' to win great prizes and the ultimate right to Push The Button and sink the F69.

Over 90,000 registered to play but in the end it was all down to Jo Smith, a 22-year-old student from Te Atatu to do the deed.

On the 13th November, at 3.30pm, and 24 hours late due to adverse weather conditions, Jo 'pushed the button' to sink the 3,000 tonne frigate (F69) in front of tens of thousands of spectators on the hills, shoreline and waters of Wellington New Zealand. Click here for a video of the sinking.

The F69 now begins her new life as a major dive industry attraction and home to marine life.

Jo and her three mates also won a heap of other prizes as did the Wild Card winner, Wiremu from Porirua, Wellington.

Hundreds of prizes have been won each week during Push The Button, including Sanyo 32-inch LCD TVs, Sanyo 7400 and Sanyo 5600 T3G video-messaging mobile phones, Xboxes and over $55,000 of airtime prizes. Click here for a summary list.
